Cleaning and care conditions according to model

For your barefoot footwear to continue offering the same comfort and functionality it had when it reached you, and to ensure its lifespan is as long as possible, it is essential to keep it clean and care for it properly. Good maintenance not only preserves the footwear's appearance but also protects its structure, extends the durability of the materials, and maintains technical properties (such as breathability or water resistance) for longer.

We usually do not recommend using a washing machine, dryer, or harsh chemical products because:

  • The movement and friction of the washing machine can deform the structure and natural shape of barefoot footwear.
  • Weakening adhesives and seams.
  • Altering the breathability and flexibility of the materials.
  • Intense heat from the dryer or direct sources like radiators can harden or deform materials.
  • Strong detergents and harsh chemicals can weaken adhesives, seams, and waterproof treatments.

In most cases, hand cleaning with a soft brush or cloth and neutral soap is more than enough to make your footwear look like new. Air drying in a cool, ventilated place will help it retain its shape and properties.

Also remember that clean and well-maintained footwear not only lasts longer but also reduces the risk of bad odors, protects the health of your feet, and cares for the planet by avoiding unnecessary resource consumption.

Below, you will find the specific washing, drying, and maintenance instructions for each of our models. By following these guidelines, your Roots Barefoot will accompany you on many more adventures.
