How do I know what my size is? Plus sign

Within each footwear product, you’ll find a link labeled "Size guide". This link will guide you through correctly measuring your foot and choosing the right size based on the model you want.

Remember that for barefoot footwear to make sense, you need to allow at least an extra 0.7 cm or so. In other words, when you measure your foot, add the recommended allowance for the model to that length, then look for the closest size in the size chart.

We have an ebook in which we explain this in greater depth.

How to transition to barefoot shoes? Plus sign

To transition to barefoot shoes, start gradually. Wear your barefoot shoes for short periods at first, allowing your feet to adapt. Gradually increase the amount of time you wear them to strengthen your muscles. Maintain a natural posture and pay attention to your walking form. Listen to your body, and if you feel any discomfort, reduce the amount of time you wear them.

Here’s a blog post explaining how to make a proper transition to barefoot shoes:

How to clean each model? Plus sign

FREEDOM MODEL is recommended to be hand-washed. Soak or submerge the shoes in warm or cold water with a mild detergent or neutral soap. Use a brush to scrub away dirt. You can remove the laces and soak them or put them in the washing machine. Scrub the entire mesh surface. For cleaning the sole, you can use a firmer brush. Once you have cleaned them, place the shoes in a cool, ventilated area to air-dry. Avoid leaving them in the sun or near heat sources, such as radiators, as this may affect the shape and integrity of the materials.

We do not recommend washing them in a washing machine, as some parts of the structure may come loose, become deformed, or deteriorate.

The insoles must not be washed in a washing machine under any circumstances, as they could tear, shrink, or lose their color. Always clean them by hand and with great care.

If you choose to wash them in a washing machine (shoes or insoles), this will be at the customer’s own responsibility, and Roots Barefoot will not be responsible for any damage that may occur.

FOR THE URBAN/ COURTLINE MODEL, putting them in the washing machine is not recommended. Use a clean, soft cloth or a soft brush to remove dirt from the surface.
Do not use harsh cleaning products.
Once the dirt and residue have been removed, clean the shoes with a clean, damp cloth to remove any remaining cleaning product.
Allow the shoes to air-dry completely in a cool, well-ventilated place. Do not expose the shoes to direct sunlight or heat.
If the shoes are very dirty, you may need to deep-clean them with a specialized microfiber cleaner.
Carefully follow the cleaner’s instructions and test it first on an inconspicuous area to make sure it does not damage the leather.

If you choose to wash them in a washing machine (shoes or insoles), this will be at the customer’s own responsibility, and Roots Barefoot will not be responsible for any damage that may occur.

FOR THE LIVANA MODEL:

Do not wash in a washing machine

Exterior: Clean with a damp cloth or soft-bristled brush and neutral soap diluted in water. Rub gently to avoid damaging the technical fabric.
Avoid using harsh products, bleach, or strong detergents.
Print: Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and neutral soap. Do not rub hard to preserve the textures.
Interior: Clean with a barely damp cloth using water and neutral soap. Do not soak the material.
If it has a removable insole, remove it and clean it separately.

Drying: Dry in the shade, in a ventilated place.
Do not use a dryer, radiators, or direct sunlight.
You can place paper inside to absorb moisture and preserve the shape.

If you choose to wash them in a washing machine (shoes or insoles), this will be at the customer’s own responsibility, and Roots Barefoot will not be responsible for any damage that may occur.

NOMAD MODEL
Although they can be put in the washing machine, we do not recommend it, mainly because the Nomad has an interior made of a type of material that may become matted from the washing machine’s vigorous movements. It is a bit like putting a down coat in the washing machine.

If you still decide to put them in, always use:

  • A short, gentle cycle.
  • A low temperature.
  • And plenty of other clothing (towels, blankets, etc.) to prevent them from hitting the drum and becoming deformed or matted.

However, our ideal recommendation is to wash them by hand. You can do so very easily:

  1. Warm water in a basin or directly under the tap
  2. Using a soft brush, scrub the surface.
  3. Neutral soap or even a little mild detergent for delicate clothing
  4. Gentle rinsing and air-drying (no dryer)
